Meeting Irmawan

I had a a friend in Malaysia with whom I kept in touch for several years after we met in chat when I was 1-year bachelor. After more then 6 years we finally had a chance to meet. Irmawan peaked us up in the hostel in Penang island, and brought us to some interesting places in Penang we didn't know about.
He took us to butterfly farm where different kinds of butterflies are being bred.

In addition there were some interesting plants and animals. This one is not really a bush branch as you might think, it is a real animal.

Later Irmawan brought us to one shopping mall for lunch. All Asian shopping malls, for instance are build to be high rather then wide.

After lunch we went to botanic garden, where we saw plenty of monkeys. Andrejs wanted to have a picture with 2 monkeys which whenever Andrejs tried to come a little bit closer looked at him with this kind of scary face.

We have tones of pictures with monkeys from this day! I think I could just stay in this botanic garden all day long and watch monkeys, they are so cute and funny!

In home of Irmawan. Him and his 8-month daughter, Yasmin-Suraya.

After staying overnight in his place we went all together to a water park. People in Malaysia swim wearing cloths and I felt uncomfortable to be the only one who would wear western swimming suit. First time in my life I was swimming wearing shorts and a t-shirt :)

The park was mostly made for kids and didn't really have many adult rides, but the one we tried was very cool and was something very similar to the one in Verona's water park, where you ride down the tube in complete darkness.
The picture is blurry, but it's the only picture I have with all of them together. Irmawan with his wife Vasilya and kids.

Vasilya is not originally from Malaysia. She came from Uzbekistan and belongs to Tatar ethnic group, her mother tong is, however, Russian. I am very glad we met those nice and hospitable people. Vasilya told us a lot about her country, invited us to come to Uzbekistan and see everything she told about with our own eyes. I found out about lots of great places in Uzbekistan and who knows, maybe one day we'll visit it. They said they are going to travel in Europe this or next year, so I really hope to see them there again.

Interesting storyline. Actually getting toured by a native in some foreign country for somewhat tourist is always a bless.
