Two sunny days in Tallinn

I probably won't be wrong if I say that Tallinn is the most beautiful town in the Baltic states. Couple of days ago we had to meet my cousin from Russia there who was spending her vacation in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. She came to Tallinn for several hours, so we had some time to spend together.
Tallinn's old town is all surrounded by the city wall which I absolutely fell in love with, probably because I've never seen this kind of beautiful wall anywhere else.

We climbed on the top of the church to get a good view of Tallinn's old town from the top. I don't remember the name of the church, but instead I remember exactly how many stairs we needed to climb to reach the top. Precisely 304! Tallinn old town is full of little shops, bars, cafes, there are much more of them than in Riga or Vilnius.

After my cousin left we went to the cinema hoping to see "The Dark Knight", which as it appeared was supposed to be shown only after 2 days, so we chose something else like "Get Smart" with Steve Carell, which was quite enjoyable and funny.

We visited an abandoned prison, built on the sea side. When we entered prison territory there was nobody except an old lady who was selling tickets. She explained us in a very good Estonian where to go and what to see. She was so informative and so excited about what she was saying that we actually managed to understand some things. The prison itself was empty, we were the only people in there walking in long cold spooky corridors and rooms. One was a hanging room where they used to hang people. Not really the place where you feel like staying.

Tallinn town's museum was a nice place to visit. It was surprising that Tallinn was almost never independent, except for maybe only 50 years of it's whole history. There we found such an interesting statue of famous Thomas.

I am wondering why the shape of the place where he's supposed to have penis looks so strange. Though Thomas is a famous symbol of Tallinn. This figure was put on top of the spire of the Tallinn's Town Hall long time ago. According to the legend Thomas was a peasant boy who was rewarded with the job of town guard for life for winning springtime parrot shooting contests, for which he never got a prise due to his low-born status.

There was another bird sitting on the head of this statue, but by the time I took out the camera the bird flew away, but I still like this romantic picture ;)

In Tallinn there is such a really cool bike, many people can sit on it and ride all together! Pretty cool!

In an old town you in many places you could buy almonds covered with caramel and cinnamon from those nicely dressed girls. Sometimes if you are lucky you can even get nuts to try for free. Very tasty!

The town was so full of tourists that it wasn't easy to walk in the streets. 30.000 of tourist on 4 ships arrived this day 4 ships to see Tallinn.
