Evgeny and Polina met us in the la Gare du Nord where Eurostar trains crossing the La Manche tunnel arrive from London. I had no feeling I was in a different country after getting there so fast and to get that feeling it took me several hours. I was very happy to see Evgeny after not seeing him for almost a year! The best way to see the city is probably always to be guided by locals and as he already knew Paris almost by heart he had shown us many lovely places.
We also met Viktors, who took care of our stay in Paris and provided us very lovely room in his Catholic community. He brought us to a spooky place called Catacombs of Paris which has a very interesting history. Unbelievably long corridors reaching up to 300 km with the walls covered with skeletons of almost 6.000.000 people. It wasn't very pleasant to walk in the dark, humid, deep and sometimes narrow underground corridors full of bones and slippery wet floor. But after 2.5 km of walking with no exits even for emergency and no sunlight we finally got out! I must say it was such a relief to come out and breath fresh air.
Amelie Poulain cafe a famous and very much touristic place turned out to be very nice with moderate prices and great atmosphere. It would even have perfect memories about it if only a waiter wouldn't touch my tea bag with his hands inside my cup in order to check if he brought me the right tea :D
And this is what amazed me! Yes, I did see trees cut with different shapes, but never square ones! Very original and beautiful!
In the evening we saw "Marley and Me" movie, and it probably was the second the most sensitive movie I watched in cinema after Titanic. And despite it's stupidly-looking commercial poster the movie was very good. I would watch it again some time...
