Since everyone knows Stonehenge I won't write here what it is. Just a little recommendation if you ever decide to go there. Put on VERY warm cloths!!! It is such an unbelievably windy place!
I believe that being in the middle of the open field and therefore specularity, makes people overestimate the significance of that stuff. For example in Latvia there is a whole forest full of ancient human-made stone pile systems, dug ponds etc, but it just doesn't look that cool :).
Oh, Yes, Sorry. Everything is written in portuguese there... :-) Anyway, I just wanted to let people know about the existence of Avebury also, which is quite close to Stonehenge.
Farther from Stonehenge, stone circles can be found not only in Latvia, as Zauco mentioned, but also in Skandinavia. I remember I saw one there, but I don't remember if it was in Norway or in Sweden...
The place is called Pokaiņi, it's near Šauliai. I guess it would be hard to tell the age - gotta ask the stones, but some have found quite credible references to the site from ancient Greek mythology and chronics. There are counted more than 1000 of those heaps scattered across the territory according to the energetics of the site - as the scientists have measured - to attract some cosmic energy or smthn :). So basically it's the place where people didn't live but went to shamans and healers. As well there is lots of rare flora growing around. But from the tourist point of view there's not much to see - just heaps of stones covered with moss and forest :).

Stonehenge is cool. Nearby there is also the less famous and less beautiful but actually larger site of Avebury (http://bruno-wp.blogspot.com/2006/03/avebury.html, http://bruno-wp.blogspot.com/2006/03/stonehenge.html).
Ага, Андрея брат :) Ух ты - ето реакция на Стоунхендж или на Андрея брата? :D
Zaucho, I believe there is such thing in Latvia, but I guess not as old as Stonehenge :) Where is it by the way?
Bruno, thanks for info! I just didn't understand much :D But your pictures are cool indeed!
