Last stop before coming back to Bolzano was Palermo, the capital of Sicily. Very beautiful, polluted and dirty city - all in one and everywhere. No matter how beautiful the building would look next to it you definitely will see trash. And we weren't walking in some remote areas of Palermo as one might get impression from the pictures. We were only following suggested attractions by our guide map. Many buildings, I would say too many, are in disastrous state and need a very good repair or maybe destruction.
Palermo was the only city in Sicily very I had a strange feeling on unsafety and wasn't enjoying walking on the streets. Once I was holding my camera in front of me and taking pictures when suddenly some car stopped next to me and the driver opened car's window and told me: you know, don't hold camera like that, it's dangerous.
This was a market next to our hostel. In general there are so many markets in Palermo, that you don't need to walk a lot to find one.
Arancini are fried rice balls with different fillings is a specialty of Sicily and could be bought on every corner there. My favorite is with ham and cheese.
This is Palermo cathedral.
San Cataldo's church with some elements of Arab architecture
I am bit bored with describing Sicily, so I will just say that below you will see some central streets of Palermo and other architectural buildings
