I found the way from Jurmala to Riga by train extremely pleasant. I hope one day I will live somewhere further from the city and travel every day by train to work. It took me about 40 minutes, one way. Imagine how much literature you can read or movies to watch every day traveling like that. Trains is my favorite traveling option.
Riga was nice as always, lots of nice places. I tried to order coffee with milk in Latvian. I tried to pronounce words in Latvian way and nodding waitress brought me exactly what I ordered. Nice one, I thought, she even didn't notice I am not local, my Latvian pronunciation must be very good! When I finished my coffee the same waitress came and asked "Would you like anything else?" (in Eglish, not Latvian). Unbelievable!!!
I did some pictures of things and buildings that I have already taken before (not even once) but I think it's still beautiful and why not to do that again.

So it means just one thing - your accent in Latvian is more similar to Lithuanian accent than Russian one (otherwise she pobably would have switched to Russian :).
And my fave is tram cos it usually goes along the parks and is not among the cars, and its big brother - train is the second one.
P.S. I also took some new pictures during Christmas, but I'm still too lazy to post them anywhere.
actually I got some other explanation rcently :) i was told that Russian speaking Latvians would not bother to speak Latvian if there is no need, they just always speak Russian :) so I guess they just would not imagine I could be a Russian-speaking.
Trams? serously? I know nothin about them. I guess they still can be in traffic jam during rush hour? Not trains :)
just post them :P
