The capital of Yunnan province rests at 2000m above sea level and is another very green, clean and beautiful city. Despite the fact that Kunming population is around 4 million people look much more relaxed than in other cities/towns we've been to so far.
Our exploration of the city started from visiting a tourist information office. In China however those offices completely fail in providing a useful information for tourists. Most of the time all they do is push you to order the most expensive tours and the most expensive hotels even if there is a hotel just next door for 3 times cheaper price. Moreover if on the door is written "Tourist Information Office" with big English letters, it doesn't necessarily mean they speak English there, in many cases they don't know any single word in English, so all is left is to try to communicate body language or try to draw pictures. In this tourist office however those guys found a more sophisticated way to communicate. They gave us the keyboard to type what we need in English and then used Google Translator tool to translate that to Chinese and the other way around. We could communicate! Great success!

In the afternoon we took a walk in the center of Kunming.
Gates in the center of Kunming
Kunming's last old street full of shops, selling raisins, pita bread, and wine-dried beef is what's left of the old Muslim Quarter.
There we tried a sugar cane juice freshly-squeezed using a special device.
Green lake park with large pools, cute bridges and Chinese style houses - very calm place to enjoy an evening or an afternoon.

Chinese people also have their own fast food restaurants, where you can buy the same food we are used to, with only difference - most of them will be with rise, also meat is mostly chicken.
Hamburger with rise instead of bred.
In China you can stay in a very che
ap and good hotels in general for 5-6 Euros for a room. The only exception was Hong Kong hotel for which we payed 17 Euros each, and where the room was so small, that you can't really do anything except of laying in a bed. Just for comparison - the room was twice smaller then the ones in Kolping dorm. Moreover it didn't have any window! In fact there was 1 window, but when you open it all you see is a black wall with pipes. I think if we would stay 2 days longer than planned we would have claustrophobia :) But then again Kong Kong is not exactly China. In that picture is not Hong Kong hotel :) It's the one in Kunming.

:D Smart people work in the tourist office there!.. I mean, they know how to use google translator - not everybody can do that.
The juice-squeezing device seems to be Toshiba, or am I wrong and it is Yamaha? I want to buy this high-tech miracle for making pesto at home. Maybe you could bring me one?
