After a long and quite exhausting journey from Hong Kong we finally came to Guangzhou. We weren't planning to stay there more than 1 day, it was just a transit city to reach Guilin, our next destination.
Guangzhou is a huge industrial several million populated city. We took a taxi that would take us from the train station to the center of the city. It took us about 1 hour to get there and all the way all we saw were just high same looking gray buildings. We had a plan to arrive to the city center and to visit a famous and the largest China market which was definitely worth visiting.

The market was really huge, on sale were different spices, dry sea food, fishes, food, live animals.

Now I know how it feels to be a superstar. In the city center we were almost the only non-Chinese looking people (we saw 2 other tourists). At some point it was even funny, whenever local people would see us, they would start pointing with finger at us to show their friends. People that were passing by were looking back at least 3 times. This curiosity is very understandable, since city isn't destination nr. 1 for tourists. But my plan was to buy some shorts
in one women store, so when i entered the shop all the girls inside started to watch me selecting cloths and whispering to each other. After all I got very shy and stressed a bit, so i just grabbed some shorts and went out. No more circus!
Andrejs is eating a squid. Very tasty thing, after we tried it, we kept buying it all the time.
Guangzhou has quite nice and big city center
Main central street
The main square

Despite the city is industrial with similar grey building (according to your words), it seems nevertheless very different from what we get used to =) thanks for photos!!!

Oh, those puppies are so cute!
And what is exact reaction that you, foreigners, are in that market? Are they just looking at you or in a whole market is the same situation as in that shop with a thousand of girls pointing to all the clothes around?
Did you already try some bugs as food? ;)
