In Shangri-la you can get more familiar with Tibetan people, culture, way of living, architecture. Most of the population in this town and around are Tibetans, so all signs and names in there are written in both - Tibetan and Chinese. People there look different than most Chinese, they rather look similar to native Americans.
When we arrived to Shangri-la it was very cold, I couldn't handle this cold even with my thick sweater and had to buy a warm jacket.
There one of the main sightseeings was a Buddhist monastery with a something that looks like a tower next to this monastery.
From time to time we saw this tower turning around, then stopping, then turning around again... We were wondering what do those turns depend on. We found it out just as soon as we got to this tower. It doesn't turn by itself, this is done by volunteers. There is a holder you can hold and push it with the all power you have and the tower might start turning. It's very hard to make it turn, we tried!

In the evening people dance around the main square (in our theory probably not get cold).

Sometimes in the streets you can see some people playing the game (not sure how to play it, but looks like something like domino). While some people are playing, others are standing around and watching them playing.

that game must be some variant of mahjongg.. too bad you cannot go to tibet - it may even be a not very good idea at the moment.. keep on blogging and posting nice pictures!
