Huashan mountain is one of the most famous and visited mountains in China. Our initial plan was to get to the beginning of the mountain early in the morning, take a cable car to the middle and then to hike all the way up. On the bus to Huashan we met many Chinese people who planned to make hiking to the top of the mountain in the night and reach the top by the early morning to meet sunrise. They said it's the best time to get the most beautiful views of the mountains. After offering us to join their night hiking group we agreed to go with them.
We started at 10 p.m. The only way to reach the top was to use the stairs build till the very top from the foothill. The stairs were extremely steep, narrow and high and every time you look up you see another steep stairs to climb, which made this hiking probably the most difficult I ever had.

A great thing about night hiking were little shops selling food and drinks with places to sit and relax. Besides, the way to the top was quite often lighted along the strairs, so most of the time there was no need to use a flashlight.
After 7 hours (!) of climbing we finally reached the top! There also were plenty other people who did the same hiking to see sunrise, so it was very difficult to find a place to stand in.
Sunrise from 2038 m.

Top of the mountain. Picture was taken about 20 minutes after the sun appeared, so most of the people were gone by that time.

I was supposed to take this picture, but when I saw Andrejs climbing to the very edge, I got very scared he might fall and I will be the witness, so I run away giving the camera to some other guy.

The mountains in this area are very smooth and slippery, which makes it easy to fall especially when you are tired and not careful.

The mountain is full of locks binded to the chains on the mountains, which is a love emblem, so every couple who goes to the mountain should bind one to the chain. And then magic happens and all those couples stay in love forever and ever! :)

Now we also have our lock on the very top of Huashan!

When we started to climb down we were so much exhausted we barely could walk. In some place down the mountain we took a bus which was supposed to take us to the beginning of the place we started to hike from, or at least that's what we expected. We fell asleep on the bus and woke up only on the last bus stop. When we got out we had no idea how to get back to the hostel, all we had was just a key from the hostel, without any name or address on it.

Beautiful mountains and landscapes! Cool photos! Very nice locker with your names!!!
How did you find the hostel after all?
we took a taxi and asked the driver to bring us to some place with hostels, we thought this might help to find ours, and it did, after a while we saw it! Happy end :)
