Day 38, arriving to Beijing

Beijing, completely unexpectidly turned out to be very modern, beautiful and clean city. Even the air was fresh unlike other big Chinese cities.

Our hostel was probablly the best place we stayed in. They had very nice bar, good food, friendly staff, good location. It was very much crowed with backpackers from all over the world.

Suprizingly enhoug was to meet several people that we met 3 weeks before Beijing in Tiger Leaping Gorge. Seems like most of backpackers going to Beijing stay in that hotsel. In general if you meet foreign tourist in Chine most of the time they are form Australia (every second backpacker probably), Israel, North America, UK. All of those people travel starting from 6 months up to 1 year or even longer, which for me was a bit shocking, cause our 2 month travel seemed already quite long. I this hostel we met 2 very amusing guys Georgina and Lee from UK, who just arrived from India spending 1 month there. The rest of our days in China we spent with them.

In the afternoon we went to see Tiananmen square, the biggest public space in the world. This day was very rainy, we weared rain-protecting coats, which Chinese people, apparentlyfound very funny, judging by smiles on their faces every time they looked at us.

Chinese are so much excited about Olympics, coming in August, they want everything to look perfect. On the Tiananmen square this day there were many young guys trying scratch our old chewing gums from the ground.

We finally decided to visit some museum in China. Kind of memorable for me, cause it was the first museum we visited in China. Our guide book recommended us a modern art museum, which wasn't big (you can easily see everything in half an hour if you walk fast) and was full of some weird things. This one is, for example, is not just a bunch of dishes covering most of the room, but also a model of Beiging city. In the very middle you can see the Forbidden City.

In one of the rooms there were many human figures painted in different colors or wrapped into newspaper.

This silver capsule was shaped like a pill which represented a modern trend of making everything easily consumable.

We used the capsule to create an artwork of our own.

In the evening we went to see an acrobat show, which is a famous thing in China. Some acrobats were doing pretty cool things
