Day 39, The secret Great Wall of China

Our hostel organized a trip to so-called secret great wall, non-touristic place where you can go and see the great wall just as it was initially build, which is different from the place all the tourist are usually taken to. It took us about 3 hours to arrive to this place from Beijing where an old Chinese man met all of us to take to the place where we can climb the wall and walk on it.

Some parts of the walls get really steep, which makes it challenging to go up and down. This day it was very windy, and even if outside temperature was above 30, it was quite chilly to walk on the wall.

Picnic on the wall

The wall which stretches around 6,700 long was initially built to protect China against Mongolians. These days some parts of the wall are being well taken care of by being reconstructed, though some parts of the wall are left without care and deteriorate slowly.
