In the early morning we were woken up by George to get to see torch relay going through Shanghai this day. The streets were completely full of people, there was not easy for any kind of transport to get though the huge crowds occupying roads close to the event. We luckily found a good place on a bench to stand with a good observation of the street where the torch would be carried.
The Olympic spirit!

The Olympic spirit!
After 1 hour of waiting we finally saw what we wanted -some famous Chinese sportsman (sorry for having no idea who he was) running with the torch
Some more of Shanghai
I think in my previous posts I forgot to mention the traffic in China. Traffic in China is one of the most maddening things. Don't even dream that someone will let you cross the street on pedestrian crossing! Moreover, to take over someone to turn on the turning sign in not enough, most likely you will be ignored by everyone. If you want to take over someone the best thing to do it is to beep - that's the way to be noticed! If by accident you are a deaf driver in China, you probably are already dead.
The rate of traffic accidents in China, including fatal accidents, is among the highest in the world. After getting familiar with Chinese way of driving I started to understand why every second Chinese song video clip is about a car accident.
