Latgalija

I have several pictures I was going to upload some time ago, and still haven't. For couple of days in August Andrej's parents took us to Latgalija, one the cultural regions of Latvia. We didn't go to see any towns, but rather stayed in a little house in the forest next to some lake. Lovely time

Great, I'd also like to go there and maybe learn some more latgalian :). Latvians call it ezeru zeme as well. And the name of it is Latgale, it's Latgalija in russian ;).

Thank you :) And I learned a new word - hammock which I have never heard of before... good to know ;)

yeah, yeah, I know it is Latgale, but it doesn't sound nice, at least for me, I prefer Latgalija, which is also in Lithuanian.

For me Latgalija sounds very Russian :P. How do you call Zemgale in Lithuanian - Zemgalija?

I don't know, actually it is the first time I hear that, but I checked wikipedia and it is called Žiemgala :)

Ok, I guess that now you'll know already too much in too many languages about Latvian regional geography :D
