An interesting thing about UK banknotes is that in Scotland Pounds differ from the ones that are used in England. They are issued by the Bank of Scotland, look very different and while being widely accepted all over Scotland are unknown to many people outside it. When a seller in a coffee shop tried to give me a 10 pound Scottish note change which I found it very weird I refused to take it. Seller tried to explain that this note is a legal currency, which also sounded pretty suspicious to me :) In the end she just said she would give me an English 10-pound note.

Culzean Castle
Culzean castle is considered to be one of the main destinations in Scotland (our trusted guide book said so). We arrived there late in the evening and as the castle itself was already closed for visiting we took a little walk around it and went down to see the sea coast which was very green because of some green plants growing right on the beach. Surprisingly, the castle also works as a hotel, but staying overnight there is pretty expensive. Culzean castle is also featured on a £5 note.
