A good day

We had a very nice day yesterday. I haven't been to the city for a while and getting out after some time was quite exciting. We started by visiting Waterloo street market, which I never seen before. Maybe it is temporal, or maybe just never noticed it. It's not very big and they sell mostly food there (or only food) from different regions of the world. Andrejs had a kebab with main ingredient Italian rice arancini. I had a bite and that was so good. I must learn how to make good arancinis myself.



On Trafalgar square we went to a National Portrait Gallery. I am a member of this gallery and pay 45 pounds each year for membership which for some reason doesn't give much of advantages. Lately most of un-free exhibitions became very small and totally boring. I probably will wait until the end of this year and unsubscribe. On the other hand, free Best portrait award 2010 exhibition is absolutely amazing. First time I found out about it when I just came to London in 2008, I visited it and was amazed. Every year best contemporary portrait paintings competition takes place and best portraits from all over the world get selected and placed in National Portrait Gallery.



We had a fulfilling lunch in American diner called Ed's easy diner. We didn't order much but portions were huge. It's the first time I went to American-type diner since my trip to US long time ago. Andrejs ordered Banana-peanut butter cocktail. We was given a glass probably of a size of a bucket and extremely delicious. I think this 1-person portion could feed 3, at least... And banana-peanut butter cocktail was something definetely worth trying! It's something Andrejs tried to do today at home by himself. He didn't really follow precisely the recipe, instead put ingredients he thought would go well. And it was still good!
