Jokursarlon

One day it was so windy that when I went out from the car and forgot to close the door the wind blew so strong and pushed the door so hard that I thought the door is gonna break. The door however survived and that also didn't stop us from continuing our travel. We were supposed to arrive to a national park called Skaftafell and do a little hike. On the way there it started snowing and in couple of minutes it went all dark, and at that time we were passing so called black beaches, where the sand was completely black by it's nature. The feeling was horrifying, sky was black, ground was black, the wind was shaking our car from one side to another and as usual the roads were completely empty, not a single car. We called it the way to Mordor. In about 30 minutes those horrific views changed by a nice sunny weather.
The way to Mordor

Later that day

The next day the wind was even stronger and we went to see the glacier in another national park Jokursarlon where we planned to take a boat trip to the glacier lake. I was a little concerned that the boats are gonna swim in such wind and asked the lady who was selling tickets if boat rides aren't gonna be cancelled to what she said: what??! cancel boat trip because of the little wind??? So we made it to the boat and had a swim in a big lake with blue ice, which 80 years ago for instance didn't exist. In 80 years this melting glacier created a lake covering 18 km2 and 200m deep!

Tourist boat

And that guy who was swimming separately from us brought us a big piece of ice that was later crashed into smaller pieces and distributed among everyone on the boat for eating. No kidding! Apparently snacks were included into boat tickets price.

There was also a little tourist information center by the lake that I found really cute!
