Norfolk

Norfolk is a region in the North-East England which is remarkably beautiful during summer because of it's blooming lavender fields. Since last year I kept thinking of going there, and last Sunday I convinced Andrejs to take a day trip to that region.

In fact Norfolk region is the biggest producer of lavender in UK so it definitely has lots of beautiful lavender fields somewhere, however by taking a suggested route by our Eyewitness travel guide we couldn't find them, which was quite disappointing. We only came across a mini lavender field near some tourist lavender shop.

We drove to a little English town by the sea called Hungstanton, and took a walk by the seaside. It was quite windy that day and most of people just sat on the beach and did not swim. We remembered that we had a kite in our car and strong wind was just perfect for it. So we let it out and ran with it on the beach. One remarkable thing about Hungstanton is it's rocks, which look interesting because of it's 3 colors.

When were driving near the forest that was near some palace when we saw the field full of deers. We didn't feel like visiting palace, but stopping near those animals and coming to see them closer looked like something amusing. It looked so unusual to see so many deers in one place, which looked like some sort of English safari. Deers however didn't much like our presence, and no matter how quietly we were walking towards them they were keeping distance from us, so our our idea of taking a walk among dears didn't result in anything.

Near the little village with a funny name "Wells-next-the-sea" we took another walk on the seaside, which was much less populated and had little colorful houses all along the beach. I haven't seen something like that before, and couldn't understand the purpose of those little houses which couldn't fit anything of a big size, like bed for example. Still have no clue, just guess it was used by fisherman to store fishing equipment when fishing business of that region was the main source of income.

hmm, not sure about those little houses, i think they might have been used by fishermen as a storage place, just guessing... I think they are no longer in use. Mark is at his grandparents in Latvia, enjoying sunshine and the seaside til the next week. Then he is back to London :)
