One of the cool things I would recommend to do in London is to go and see some Stand-Up comedy show. I remember first time when I visited one of the shows I understood only half of the jokes. The reason of that was a combination of not receipting English well, being non-familiar with culture/habits/geography of regions of the country. Yep, nothing else! After couple of years I am in a better position now and I very much enjoy stand up comedy nights. This is all about sitting in a room/theater and seeing different comedians perform. The most important rule for me is: never sit in the front row cause this is where you get attacked by comedians most. They would ask what you think of what they just said, ask about your personal life, profession or ask any uncomfortable question you would not be ready to answer. They certainly would make sure they make a good joke out of what you said and this would bring the whole auditorium to laugh. That's why the first rows in London's comedy shows are usually empty or filled in with tourists who have no clue.
Most of the time tickets to good comedy clubs are sold out by the time you get to the ticket office, so we end up seeing less popular shows. This is how we discovered several comedian shows near Leicester Square- the place most popular for comedy nights. Last week by not being able to get into the show we wanted we were approached by flayers deliverer and offered to buy tickets to some infamous amateur comedy. Of cause he did not mention they were amateur, we found that out as soon as we entered little cellar room where the performance took place. Jokes were good most of the time and I think I didn't laugh as much for a while. For me they are a very good way to relieve stress after busy week and get some positive emotions.
